What is Couples Therapy?

It is common for clients to ask, during an initial couples therapy session, “Why are we talking about me and my issues? Isn’t this supposed to be couples therapy?” Yes, and it is! Let us explain…

As humans, we all have issues. Your set of issues compels you to behave in certain ways, make certain choices, and engage in certain ways in your relationships. Issues left unattended create problems that prevent connection with yourself and others.

Couples therapy offers a process of identifying your issues and your partner’s issues and how they collide in the relationship. The resolution of all three parts of this picture is what makes couples therapy so powerful.

The BEing There Difference

In each therapy session at BEing There, your therapist will help both partners understand who is enacting an issue now, how the other partner reacts to that issue, and how to resolve the spin that these issues have created.

In couples therapy, there are many complex elements at play. That’s why it’s crucial to have a skilled relationship expert by your side. We can guide you through the challenges, helping you navigate the rough waters of relationship issues to find a harmonious, truthful, and loving path forward.
